The Duncan Lady Demons soccer team had two seniors who will represent them at the All-State Soccer game in 2019.
Seniors Kyleigh Bowers and Melany Moran will represent the Duncan Lady Demons as part of the selection which was announced by the soccer coaches association.
Duncan Lady Demons finished the 2019 season with an 11-4 record overall and 5-2 in district play which was good enough for a third place finish in district to punch their ticket to the Class 5A Playoffs.
Bowers, who was a four year starter for Duncan, had 10 goals in 2019 including the lone goal in the 3-1 loss to Noble in the first round of the 2019 Class 5A Playoffs.
Lady Demons head coach Delydia Givens was proud of Bowers and the work ethic she gave during her senior season to help the offense throughout 2019.
“She has worked hard all four years and is very deserving of this honor,” Givens said. “She had a great senior season.”
The other senior honored was Moran who spent all four years being the goalie for the Lady Demons including the beginning of the 2019 season.
Duncan on defense, which was led by Moran, was part of eight shutouts for the Lady Demons as the team only gave up 24 goals in the 15 games played on the year.
Givens said that Moran is a very versatile player who played a couple of positions on the 2019 team and said that she was a very hard worker and also deserving to be honored for All-State.
“She is a hard worker. She has played goalie for us for the past four years,” Givens said. “She has been very versatile for us this year starting the season in the goal and ending the season as a midfielder.”
Representing the west team, the two ladies will play at 6 p.m. Friday June 14 at Moore High School and Givens is proud that both girls will represent Duncan in the game.
“Both girls are very deserving of this honor and will be great representatives for Duncan,” Givens said.
