Trevyn Stewart

Trevyn Stewart throws the ball in to try and get an out during the State Championship game against Piedmont. Stewart was named All-State and will represent the Demons as a member of the Large West team on June 5.

They have enjoyed graduation, a State Championship and now two of Duncan’s baseball seniors have earned top postseason honors as Trevyn Stewart and Peyton Roberson earned awards from the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association.

Stewart, who got some big hits in the 5A State Tournament, was named to the Large West All-State team while his teammate Roberson earned All-Star by Class for his entire senior season of work.

Being selected as one of the 5A representatives on the team, Stewart got the 1B slot of the Large West All-State team and was one of four in 5A selected on the team.

On the season, Stewart had a batting average of .419 while having the second highest amount of hits on the team with 44 and was second in RBIs for the team with 47 on the year.

Being selected as All-State earns Stewart a spot on the board outside of Duncan’s field and Coach Grant Oliver said this honor for Stewart is based off all the hard work he put in for the season.

“Trevyn is one of the hardest working high school kids I have ever seen. We had to constantly run him out of the cages this year just so we could go home sometimes,” Oliver said. “I hope all of our underclassmen have learned his work ethic. I am extremely proud of Trevyn Stewart and blessed to be called his coach.”

With the All-State selection, Stewart also earned All-Star by Class along with teammate Roberson and they were two of the 20 selections on the team.

Roberson was mainly the DH for the Demons in his senior season as he had a batting average of .427 while being second on the team with home runs on the year.

He had five on the season and was third on the team in RBIs with 41 while having a total of 38 hits in 29 games played on the year.

Oliver said that Roberson showed a true resolve on playing his senior season hurt and being the ultimate member of the Demons team for the 2022 season.

“Peyton did something incredible this year that goes completely unnoticed to a lot of people. He was the ultimate teammate,” Oliver said. “He suffered an injury this year in February which prevented him from catching but decided he was going to still play while going through his rehab. He was in our lineup from spring break on and played a huge role in our success this year at the plate.”

The All-State game will be played at 7 p.m. June 5 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma where the Large West team will take on the Large East team.

Large West team will be coached by Roland Baza and the Deer Creek staff and will face Justin Delay and the Bixby staff who will be coaching the Large East team.
