Jaycee Porter goes against a Chattanooga defender as she made her first three baskets. The Lady Bulldogs won 41-19 this past Friday evening at home.

After getting a big road win, the Empire Lady Bulldogs had to go into a match at home with the Chattanooga Lady Warriors looking for a perfect week and completed it by winning 41-19 this past Friday evening.

Falling early by a basket, the Lady Bulldogs offense got going by scoring nine straight points, including three straight baskets from Jaycee Porter to lead 6-2.

Kiersten Collins got a bucket along with a free throw from Jade Millan to put them up 9-2 and the final bucket of the quarter came from Collins who got a three bucket to lead 12-3 after one quarter of play.

Chattanooga got off to a big start in the second quarter and was able to cut into Empire’s lead before the first bucket came from the Lady Bulldogs at the 1:51 mark of the quarter.

Jasmine Millan was able to hit the bucket and her sister Jade Millan hit two free throws to end the half with the four-point lead heading into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room from halftime, the Lady Bulldogs were able to extend and get their largest lead of the game by coming out a perfect 3-for-3 in shot attempts to start the third.

Jade Millan, Jasmine Millan and Porter hit the shots perfectly to give them the 22-12 lead when the Lady Warriors hit a three to get the lead for Empire back into single digits.

A couple of minutes later, Jade Millan hit a three to put the lead back to 10 points and the defense took over the rest of the quarter trying to keep the lead in favor of the home team.

Porter was able to extend the lead as she went into the basket and was fouled with her knocking down both free throws to extend the Lady Bulldogs lead to 12.

Adrianna Guerra would hit a three at the end of the quarter with the Lady Bulldogs leading by 15 heading into the final quarter of play.

The fourth quarter saw the Lady Bulldogs outscore Chattanooga 11-4 and the team got their 14th victory of the season by winning by almost 30 points.

Leading in scoring was Porter who had 15, Jade Millan had 10 points, Jasmine Millan had six and Collins had five to lead the offense for the Empire Lady Bulldogs.

Next game for the Lady Bulldogs will take place at home starting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4 as they face Healdton High School.

The boys game between Chattanooga and Empire will be in the Tuesday edition of The Duncan Banner as the game hadn’t gone final as of press time.
