Keeping their district winning streak unblemished, the Marlow Outlaws beat Pauls Valley 28-7 this past Friday night.
The Pauls Valley Panthers struck first with a 5-yard run made by James Cudjo, taking the lead 7-0 with 5:37 left in the 1st quarter.
After multiple offensive drives that were met with defensive stops made by the Panthers, the Outlaws were scoreless throughout the first half.
In a slow start for both teams, the score at halftime was 7-0 in favor of Pauls Valley.
Opening up the second half of the game, Marlow’s Chase Knight tied the game up with a 14-yard touchdown run.
Building the momentum gained at halftime, the Outlaws then forced the punt from the Panthers.
Held to fourth down, the Panthers looked to gain offensive possession again, but a roughing the kicker call handed the ball back to the Outlaws on the 49-yard line.
Keeping the ball on first down, Marlow’s quarterback Jace Gilbert kept the ball on an option read keeper and busted loose for a 49-yard touchdown run with 4:05 left in the 3rd quarter.
Beginning the 4th quarter, Knight ran for 15 yards into the end zone, giving the Outlaws a 21-7 lead.
Pauls Valley’s offense was not able to respond, punting the ball back to the Outlaws.
With less than a minute left in the game, Knight’s 5-yard run into the end zone ended the game with a 28-7 Marlow victory.
The two key players of the game were Marlow’s Chase Knight with 125 yards rushing and Pauls Valley’s Justin Humphrey with 51 yards rushing.
The Outlaws are now 3-2 with a 2-0 record in district play and will be on the road starting at 7 p.m. Friday, October 11 at Plainview High School.
