Over 50 area individuals placed well in their respective Track & Field Regional meets this past weekend as the Marlow teams swept the 3A Team titles and the Velma-Alma Girls took a regional title.
Of the individuals and teams who qualified, there were 22 overall winners in their regional events with the top three automatically qualifying. Depending on the finish, others qualified for highest mark after the top three finishes.
Miracle Harris, the lone representative from Central High, won the 200-meter dash and also qualified for the 100-meter dash race to represent the Lady Bronchos in the Class A State meet.
Destinee Wofford was one of the winners for Velma-Alma as she took home the regional title in the 200-meter dash with 27.68 seconds in the race.
Savanna Wainscott took home the title in the 400-meter run for the Lady Comets and three of their relay teams also took home the top prize.
Jakobi Bartling won the long jump event for the Lady Comets with the distance of 16-00.00 and Rylee McLain took home the pole vault win with a distance of 9-00.00.
Mackenna Rubrecht won the discus throw with a distance of 92-07 while MacKayla Womack took home the shot-put title with a distance of 31-05.00 to wrap up all the Velma-Alma winners.
Empire was the lone Stephens County representative at the 2A level with Jade Millan getting the lone win for the Lady Bulldogs by taking home the 400-meter run title with a time of 1:01.76.
She was one of five to qualify for the 2A state track meet. A full list of the qualifiers from Empire High School are printed below.
The Marlow Lady Outlaws saw more of the victories with Korie Kizarr winning the 1600-meter and 3200-meter races at the 3A Regional meet at Plainview.
Kendall Kizarr won the 100-hurdles while Kennedy Kizarr won the pole vault event and Morgan Lucas wrapped up the individual victories by winning the discus event.
Three of the Lady Outlaws’ relay teams won events to wrap up the Marlow winners while Comanche had three of their six state qualifiers win events.
Shayson Hodges won the shot-put with a distance of 37-00.50 and Jaylee Miller won the 800-meter run for the Lady Indians.
The other representative from Comanche to win was Noah Presgrove, who won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.95 seconds.
These qualifiers will now head to their respective state track meets which will happen this week unless weather changes the schedule.
Comanche and Marlow’s state meet will take place Friday, May 7 at Catoosa, while Empire’s state meet will take place Saturday, May 8 at Ardmore. Velma-Alma and Central High’s state meet will take place Saturday, May 8 at Cherokee High School.
