Editor's Note:
This story has been changed to reflect there were eight All-State selections from Stephens County in Cross Country instead of seven.
The Marlow Lady Outlaws and Marlow Outlaws had a big year for area cross country teams and two of their own have taken the All-Area Runner of the Year Awards for their top finishes.
Korie Kizarr took home the girls’ Runner of the Year Award after finishing third overall in the Class 3A State Cross Country meet with a time of 12:27.26.
Savanna Wainscott, from Velma-Alma, was one of the runners selected to the Girls All-Area list along with Marlow’s Grace Banks, Comanche’s Jaylee Miller and Duncan’s Jordan Patterson.
On the boys’ side of the All-Area list, Noah Davis took home the Runner of the Year Award after finishing as runner-up in the Class 3A State Cross Country meet with a time of 17:11.57.
Davis and the Marlow boys’ team took three of the five spots in the All-Area Cross Country list as Tyler McKinley and Luke Tolle both finished in the top 15 of their class.
Blake Meadows, from Duncan, clinched the spot as well by finishing 12th overall in the Class 5A State Cross Country meet while Comanche’s Landon Ellis took the final spot by finishing sixth overall in Class 3A.
Cross Country also does All-State selections as Stephens County had eight All-State selections including Davis, Kizaar, Wainscott, Miller, Ellis, Meadows, McKinley and Tolle.
