LAWTON — Cameron University will be a hub of athletic action this week.

The Southwest Senior Classic basketball game will kick off the action at 5:30 p.m. today with several locals taking the floor.

The Southwest Senior Bowl football game will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and there will be a baseball game at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Rush Springs’ Jeff Tompkins will coach the North Large squad, and get to coach RSHS’ senior Chase Nichols one last time. Also on the North Large team are Duncan’s Terry Towns, and Marlow’s Andrew Reed.

Empire’s Aaron Anderson is the lone area representative on the South squad.

The North Large girls’ team will be coached by Duncan’s Karen Berninger. Andrea Buben and Shanessa Smith will both take part in the game under their old coach. Rush Springs’ Tiffany Foster will also be on the North team.

Central High’s Christy Logan is on the North Small roster.

The football game will feature a host of area players.

On the South team will be Comanche’s Blake Birchfield, Jared Pitts, Sam Smith and Eli Alvarado.

The North team will have more local flavor.

DHS’ Jared Smith, Clint Huffaker and Casey Miller are scheduled to take part in the game.

Rush Springs’ Chase Nichols, Andrew Moreno and Jared Bratcher will also make appearance.

Marlow’s Dent Dysart is slated on the team as a quarterback, and he will be joined by teammates David Reynolds, Thomas Bruner, Tyler Nunley and Landon Collins.

Central High’s Chris Clark is also on the roster.

Duncan’s Kim Longest and Rush Springs’ Daryn Brantley will be coaches for the North team.

Anderson and Bulldog teammate David Shipman made the South baseball roster.
