The Marlow Lady Outlaws softball team had a busy week that featured them going 7-1 with a tournament win, resulting in them taking this week’s Xpress Wellness Team of Week award.
Starting the week with a 19-5 win over Elgin, the Lady Outlaws also got their second win the next day when they beat Marietta 6-1.
Playing two games on Thursday, they got their only loss of the week against Newcastle before coming back to beat Lindsay 17-4 before heading to Plainview in Ardmore for their weekend tournament.
Facing Ringling in the first game, the Lady Outlaws were tied 1-1 until a four run bottom of the fourth gave them the 5-1 victory to move on to the winner’s bracket.
Another big inning got the Lady Outlaws into the semi-finals as they beat Durant JV 10-0 with a seven run bottom of the fourth.
Down by two heading into the final inning of the game against Valliant, the Lady Outlaws won 8-6 with Kenlee Wilson hitting the winning runs in to take the walk off victory and head to the title match.
Facing off against Lexington, the Lady Outlaws got the 7-3 victory after scoring seven runs in the first two innings to take home the championship of the Plainview Tournament.
Dara Hunt scored two runs on a single in the infield while Lyvia Bateman got the first run of the game for the Lady Outlaws, leading 3-1 over Lexington.
Jori Brittian was hit by the pitch to score Alisha Lemmons to lead 4-1 when the biggest hit came in from Parker Hays on a double deep to left scoring three runs to lead 7-1 after two innings.
Lexington would score two more runs, however the Lady Outlaws were able to hold on to the victory to make sure they came home with some hardware.
Lady Outlaws head coach Brian Miller and the Lady Outlaws are now 8-7 on the 2020 season and will have one more game this week before the Labor Day Holiday as they host Cache at 5 p.m. tonight, Sept 3.
