They have one more regular season match before playoffs begin next week.
Lady Demons volleyball coach Amanda Lard, after the match, was beyond excited to win over the 5A No.10 ranked team and knew this match was something that will help her team.
“I tell them all the time that I would put them up against anybody and I will put them against any team because when we are playing at our top level, we can beat anybody,” Lard said. “It took us a little awhile to get going tonight and we had moments where … they got on a run and we kind of let them get in it and let them get in it and let them get ahead. All credit to those girls because they played their hearts out.”
The last regular season game will take place around 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at Altus High School and then regionals will take place next Monday when the Lady Demons will travel to Coweta.
As the No. 2 team in the regional, the Lady Demons will play at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 against Claremore in a win-or-go-home game.
If the Lady Demons win, they will play at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 against the winner of Coweta and Nathan Hale for the right to the Class 5A State Tournament.
Lard said this match and the final regular season match is what this team needed to be ready for the playoffs.
“This is the kind of volleyball we are going to see in playoffs, we are going to see tough and it is going to be gritty and they will hit hard and will be well disciplined,” Lard said. “This is exactly the kind of prep we need going into playoffs because that is what we are going to see.”
