Less than 24 hours after their last victory at home for the regular season, the Duncan Lady Demons took down Cache in a road test as they won 51-36 this past Tuesday evening.
Duncan had to play without a few of their starters in the game against Cache.
Kaylee Foster had two buckets and went 2-for-3 at the charity stripe to have six of the 13 points in the first quarter.
Then, Kyndle Ledford and KK Miller both netted a bucket apiece while Meg Walker hit a big three at the end of the quarter to lead 13-10 after one quarter of play.
Miller hit two big three-point shots in the second quarter before Foster scored eight of the 16 points in the second quarter with a three bucket and two buckets from the field.
Addie Siess also contributed a bucket as the Lady Demons led 29-20 at halftime with the defense picking up as they came out of the halftime break.
Ledford hit a big three while Foster hit a two bucket. Then, Walker added two free throws while Miller had the biggest quarter, hitting a bucket and going 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
The Lady Demons held Cache to eight points in the third quarter and clung to the 40-28 lead.
Then, Duncan used free throws to ice the game in the fourth and final quarter.
Miller, in the fourth quarter, went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe while Foster went 3-for-4 at the charity stripe and Ledford went a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
Senior Sydney White shot the only bucket from the field in the fourth quarter and Duncan coasted to the victory with two players in double figures.
Foster led the scoring with 19 points while Miller had 16. Ledford had seven while Walker had five and White and Siess both had two apiece.
Lady Demons head coach Brandon Kephart credited the defense and the attack to the rim as the keys to the victory that put the Lady Demons back to the .500 mark on the season.
“The girls played a great game last night. Kaylee (Foster) and KK (Miller) shot the ball really well and did a great job attacking the rim,” Kephart said. “Kyndle (Ledford) played great defense on their leading scorer. The team really committed to playing team defense the whole game.”
Duncan will try to get above the .500 mark with their final regular season game as the Lady Demons look to face Durant again for the second time this year.
The Lady Demons won 53-34 at the end of January at home against Durant. Game time will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Durant High School.
After the final regular season game, the Lady Demons will begin Regional play the very next week with the Duncan girls playing Eisenhower. That game will start at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at Piedmont High School in a win-or-go-home game.
