It was a battle for three quarters between the Duncan Lady Demons and 5A #3 Ardmore Lady Tigers but the visiting team pulled ahead in the fourth and got the 45-35 victory ending Duncan’s winning streak.
The Lady Demons jumped out to a small lead when Sydney White hit two free throws for the first points of the game and led 2-0 over Ardmore.
The Lady Tigers got six straight points then Abbi Price cut it to a small two point lead when a big three bucket from Alexis Giles got it to a one point lead for Ardmore.
Hitting two free throws, Ardmore led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter when the Lady Tigers extended their lead in the first half of the second quarter.
Getting the lead to 10 points, the Lady Demons went on a run highlighted by a bunch of free throws from Kaylee Foster who hit 4-for-7 in the quarter.
Only down by four points, the Lady Demons came out with a bang in the top half of the third quarter as Katelyn Samules dropped a pass to Price who laid the ball into the hoop cutting the lead to two points.
Another big assist came off a turnover and a quick pass as Giles got it into Kyndle Ledford who tied the ball game up at 24 apiece with a basket from Ardmore putting them up by two points.
With 4:53 left in the quarter, Samuels launched a three ball and banked it in to take the slim 27-26 lead before both teams would trade buckets to have Ardmore up by one point heading to the fourth.
Ardmore took advantage of early game foul trouble and was able to cause a situation where two Lady Demons players fouled out early in the fourth quarter with the Lady Tigers in the lead.
Price and Samuels fouled out within seconds of each other and Ardmore went on an 11-0 run before the first basket in the fourth quarter came from Ledford.
Ledford hit a three with 2:15 left in the quarter to cut the lead to seven but free throws from Ardmore iced the game and they won by 10 points over Duncan in a close battle between the two teams.
Foster led the scoring with eight points, Price had six and Ledford and KK Miller had five points apiece with eight Lady Demons also scoring during the game.
With their record now at 8-11 on the season, the Lady Demons will have their homecoming game at 6:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 7 against Altus High School at home.
