Comanche baseball player Bryce Hendricks chosen East Central University to play college baseball.
Hendricks, who graduated in 2020, spent the last two seasons playing for the Comanche Indians baseball team under Coach Toby Wilson who has led the team to new heights in baseball.
Hendricks and the Indians only played in two games this year before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hendricks said he was glad to get the opportunity to head to the next level.
“My senior season was canceled due to the virus and I kind of wanted another opportunity to continue my baseball career at the next level. East Central gave me that opportunity and I took it,” Hendricks said. “It was mainly over the phone because it is against their rules right now to talk in person. It was mainly over the phone and over text messages.”
Hendricks played for the Indians all four seasons and said when Wilson came on board during his junior season he was very thankful his coach got him ready to play college baseball.
“When Coach Wilson came in he was coaching me really hard and preparing me for college. It made me step up and be prepared for what is coming and what I am able to do,” Hendricks said.
Hendricks was one of two senior pitchers that were looking to make a run for the Comanche Indians on the mound this 2020 season.
While he didn’t get to have a traditional senior night like most seniors, Hendricks said his parents along with his family and friends are people he would like to thank for helping him throughout his journey.
“Mainly my mom and dad while growing up playing summer ball, we would travel to the city every weekend and play tournaments up there. They would take me where ever I needed to and support me,” Hendricks said. “It was different in all but you got to do what you got to do right now. It doesn’t bother me because I know they are still there and supporting me through everything and will always be there for me.”
Hendricks will leave Comanche after graduating in a few weeks time after a big junior season for the Indians and will join the Tigers for the 2021 season.
