After finishing up the season with a three game winning streak in district, the Duncan Demons had four players selected to the Class 5A-1 All-District team selected by the coaches this past week.
The Demons had two seniors lead the way with player of the year awards as Tully Booth was named Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year and senior Kenny Garland was named Offensive Back of the Year.
Booth was one of the senior offensive lineman who helped Duncan’s offense have a big win streak to finish off the 2021 campaign.
One of the highlights of the year for Booth was when he scored his only touchdown of his career during the final game of the 2021 season.
Booth ran the ball in from 52 yards out for the touchdown with 3:29 left in the game to get to the final outcome of the 58-14 victory over Southeast Spartans.
Garland led the offense for the Demons as the quarterback for the majority of the season with his best game coming against El Reno when he contributed 240 total yards of offense.
The senior signal caller for the Demons contributed to 18 touchdowns on the campaign with four of them coming in one game against Noble where he had three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown.
Duncan only had two other players on the All-District team as two other seniors were honored with awards and both made the first team on their respective sides of the ball.
Trevyn Stewart was selected as first team defensive back after helping lead the defensive unit that saw several young players playing on the squad.
Stewart had several tackles on the season and had several passes for the defense to lead the defense to two shutouts to end the year.
The other senior honored on the All-District team was offensive lineman Jaxon Merchant.
Merchant played all 10 games for the Demons and helped Duncan’s offense during a year that saw Duncan finish 4-6 and 3-4 in district play overall.
Duncan finished fifth overall in the district and will look to bounce back in 2022 with several key positions returning to the team.
