Kevin Wilson, a 2019 graduate of Duncan High School and the second highest scorer in Duncan Demons basketball history, is highlighting the past in his new Timeout with Kevin Podcast.
Wilson will officially finish his first year of college using distance learning and has always wanted to do something like this but thought now was the time to make the debut of this new idea.
“I have watched a couple of NBA players doing it on YouTube and when I was at Tabor I thought this is a great idea,” Wilson said. “I told some of my teammates and they told me that I should do it. Then a week ago I got serious about it. I wanted to do something with Southwest Oklahoma because I feel like at times someone like us don’t get enough praise so this will be a great way to get exposure out while talking with coaches and players about their experience of playing.”
So far he has interviewed Coach Jamar Lockhart and Falon Howell. Wilson has reached out to several people and is looking to go over a wide range of topics in sports.
“My idea is to talk with important sports figures like this Saturday I am going to talk to Amanda Woods. I think she is a very important person,” Wilson said. “The idea is to create a place for people to watch and kind of sit back and listen to people talk sports. I love sports stories so this is a perfect combination for me I feel.”
Some of the interviews he has done has been shared with several hundred views. Wilson said some people have given him pointers and he is hoping to continue it in the future.
“I’m all for it. With me being back home it will be a lot easier for me to get access,” Wilson said. “Once this Coronavirus stuff kind of ends it will be super easy to go to the gym, go to their house or they can come over here or whatever. I’m just doing people that I really kind of know right now so it will be easy to do once this is over. It is kind of hard to make video stuff right now with all the stuff going around but luckily there are some people who are wanting to and allowing me to come over.”
