A receiver for the Empire Bulldogs makes a jumping catch in a drill early Monday morning with official practice underway for all seven Stephens County Schools.

The temperature is rising and football fever is the diagnosis as all seven Stephens County schools began their practice to start preparation for the 2019 season.

Empire Bulldogs got things started by being the only school to conduct a 12:01 a.m. practice Monday morning, when schools could officially start with just helmets and no pads.

Rest of the schools began during the day Monday. Duncan started at 8 a.m. Monday, Marlow started at 5:30 p.m. that evening, the Comets began at 6 p.m. Monday, Comanche at 6 p.m. Monday, the Central High Bronchos started at 6 p.m. and finally the Bray-Doyle Donkeys went at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Schools will be able to start full practices Friday with pads and the first live action will begin Saturday Aug. 17 with Marlow hosting an inter squad scrimmage at 7:30 p.m.

Outlaws will also travel to Hobart for a three-way scrimmage Aug. 23rd at 7 p.m. where they will go against Hobart and Springs.

Several schools will have scrimmages on Aug. 22, the Demons will travel to Cache starting at 6:30 p.m., while Comanche at 7 p.m. will host Wynnewood.

Bray-Doyle’s only scheduled scrimmage is Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. at Bray-Doyle High School as they take on Sasalawa, OSD and Wetumka.

The very next day, the Bronchos and Empire will host their scrimmages with Central High taking on Maysville and at 6 p.m. Aug. 23rd the Bulldogs will face Caddo.

Comets will also have their lone scrimmage on Aug. 23rd as they travel to Wilson and face off against the Eagles and Cyril.

Following the week of the 23rd, four schools will have a week zero game. Empire will travel to Quinton with kick off at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 and Comanche will be traveling to Frederick with their kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Other two week zero games will have county schools opening their season at home, the Bray-Doyle Donkeys taking on Maysville Aug. 30 with kick off at 7:30 p.m. and the Velma-Alma Comets hosting Ryan on Aug. 30 with kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Duncan and Central High will finish off their scrimmage schedule as the Demons host Woodward at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 and the Bronchos travel to Caddo with kick-off time to be determined on Aug. 29

The full season slate begins Sept. 6 and the regular season lasting until Nov. 8, the first week of playoffs will follow on Nov. 15.
