Almost a month ago, the Duncan Lady Demons softball team had five of their players named to the All-District team with one of them getting a top honor for the 2021 season.
Lady Demon KK Miller received selection as 5A-1 Player of the Year after a big year as the pitcher for Duncan High School.
She also was a force at the plate hitting .482 with six home runs and 34 runs scored while going a perfect 17-for-17 on the stolen bases in 2021.
Miller in the circle had the best strikeout rate in Class 5A, according to Coach Robert Cowan, as she had 266 strikeouts in 164 innings pitched while going 17-12 for the Lady Demons.
Three of the other members for the Lady Demons received selection as utility members. Aubrie Davis, Hannah Woods and Tina Alvarez all were selected to be a part of the First Team All-District.
Davis, who was the main second baseman for the Lady Demons, only had two errors on the season and had a batting average of .298 for the Lady Demons.
She drove in 20 runs while scoring 23 times with an on-base percentage of .359 for the 2021 campaign.
Woods, the third baseman for the Lady Demons in 2021, also had two errors for a high fielding percentage while having a batting average of .295 for the season.She drove in 17 runs while scoring 14 times and hitting for eight doubles to become the third member of the team to get honors.
Alvarez, one of the lead hitters behind Miller for the Lady Demons, had a batting average of .448 on the 2021 campaign.
Mainly playing short stop and first base, Alvarez drove in 27 runs while scoring 17 times, having 11 doubles and two triples at the plate. She also had 16 stolen bases for a percentage of .941 on the year to help Duncan in the 2021 campaign.
The last member of Duncan’s team to get All-District was Kailee Benton, who was selected as second team on the list.
Benton played first base mainly and some sort shop. She had a batting average of .424 on the season with 17 runs scored and drove in 23 runs. She hit seven doubles and two triples.
The Lady Demons finished second overall in the district with a record of 11-3 in district play and finished 20-13 overall in the 2021 season.
