Bryson Evans

Bryson Evans is all smiles with his parents after signing his letter of intent with Murray State College during a ceremony this past Friday at Comanche High School.

After making his choice this summer, Bryson Evans officially signed with Murray State College to play baseball in spring 2023.

Comanche’s starting short stop in his junior season had a batting average of .450 with 21 runs scored, seven RBIs, 10 stolen bases and one home run.

Evans, who just finished his senior year with the football team, has gone into the next couple of months preparing for his senior year with the Comanche baseball team.

Knowing the choice was an easy one for him, Evans felt proud to sign in front his family, friends and coaches this past Friday in the Comanche High School gym.

“It has been a dream of mine for a long time and it has been my goal and I have worked for it pretty much every summer of my life,” Evans said. “I spent all my summers playing summer ball and it feels good to get it off my back.”

June 2021 was when he made the decision to choose the school and Evans said visiting the campus was what made the decision even easier.

“I just went over there and couldn’t decide between a couple of other two years and I really like the coaches there. I went over there and watched them play an inter squad game and they played their game well,” Evans said. “They are coached well and the guys on the team really enjoy it. I made that decision in that moment. I like the campus a lot and the field is awesome over there, but really it was the coaches and some of the players I talked to — everyone loves it there. They said they work hard and enjoy every minute of it.”

Evans’ other choices included Eastern Oklahoma State and Seminole State and he said he is glad to have this choice done before his football and baseball seasons.

“It was nice and it was nice for football season too, making the decision and not having to worry about anything and enjoying senior year,” Evans said. “That is the thing I talked about a lot — to get it off my chest and enjoy the rest of my senior year.”

Comanche baseball will start the 2022 campaign this March and Evans will return a four year starter for the Indians as they prepare for the upcoming season.
