Basketball honors are starting to be handed out and two Stephens County athletes were honored with Oklahoma Basketball Coaches’ Association Region 5 All-District team.
Duncan Senior Kevin Wilson and Velma-Alma senior Bryson Sherlin were two of 10 representatives selected after leading their teams deep into the playoffs for 2018-2019 season.
Wilson, who led the Demons to the area consolation semi-finals, averaged 23.9 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game for Duncan in their first trip in several seasons to the area tournament.
Hitting 1,000 career points in his senior season, Wilson became the second leading scorer in Duncan High School history and he finished his career with 1,408 points.
Sherlin, for the Comets, also led his team to the area consolation semi-finals. The Velma-Alma senior averaged 15.1 points per game and eight rebounds per game.
Being a force on defense, Sherlin also had 2.3 blocks per game and 2.1 steals per game as he too went for over 1,000 career points in his senior season.
This honor for Sherlin is his third because he was also named OCA Class A All-Star by class and OBCA All Star by class for the Velma-Alma Comets.
