The Duncan volleyball team is off to a fast start this season and kept rolling Monday afternoon at El Reno. The Lady Demons posted a 3-0 win for the match to move to 6-2, winning the three games by scores of 25-5, 25-18 and 25-9.
The JV squad has now won three games in a row after beating El Reno 2-1. The Lady Demons lost the first game 25-14, but bounced back to take games two and three, 25-17 and 15-13. Duncan’s freshman team lost its match 2-0.
“We served pretty tough and we were consistent hitting the ball,” Duncan head coach Randi Pawpa said. “El Reno has been a tough place for us to play. I don’t know if it’s the trip or what, but we’ve always played kind of flat there. We’ve been working on changing that the past couple years and we played much better there today.
“We kind of got too relaxed there in the second game and shanked about four or five in a row. But we settled down and got under control for the remainder of the match.
Taylor Spradlin had a big day serving as she had five aces. Spradlin also had three kills and two digs to go along with her aces. Britton Scott served three aces and had six kills in the match.
“Taylor served the ball really well and she hit the ball really well, too,” said Pawpa. “She was definitely on her game.”
Bree Fritschow led the Lady Demons in kills with 10, and also had two digs. Duncan’s setter Kathryn Jeffords had 18 assists. Rebekah Rauh had two kills and two blocks and Kaley Neal had two kills and one dig.
Duncan’s next match will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at home against Lawton Eisenhower.
