While softball season is over throughout the state of Oklahoma, Duncan softball players took home some honors, including a few members making the 5A-1 All-District team and one member making the 2020 All-Region 9 team for seniors.
Duncan Lady Demons senior Alyssa Childers was the lone representative on the Region 9 2020 Oklahoma High School Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association team as a utility member of the team.
Lady Demons head coach Robert Cowan said being on the All-Region team, which consists of seniors from Class 5A and Class 6A, will put Childers up for a chance to get an All-State honor.
Childers also was selected as a utility member on the 5A-1 district team and was one of two representatives to be on the 2020 5A-1 All-District team.
As the shortstop for the Lady Demons in 2020, Childers had a batting average of .358 while hitting 23 singles six doubles and scoring 26 times to help the team to a record of 11-19.
The other member of the Lady Demons on the 2020 5A-1 All-District team was KK Miller as she was selected as a pitcher for the team.
Miller had 11 wins in the circle, 219 strikeouts, had an ERA of 2.59 and gave up 158 hits in 162 innings pitched in the 2020 season.
Duncan also had two honorable mention on the All-District team as outfielder Mac Cogburn and DP Lexi Bingham made the All-District honorable mention list.
Cogburn, in her second season with the Lady Demons as a sophomore, hit .303 with 16 singles, five doubles and one triple while driving in 17 runs during the 2020 campaign.
Bingham had one of the higher batting averages for the Lady Demons, hitting .381 with 25 singles, six doubles, one triple and scoring 24 runs for Duncan this season.
All-State will be selected this weekend by the Oklahoma Fast Pitch Coaches Association and the list will be announced in the next couple of weeks.
