One of Duncan’s senior athletes on the boys’ Cross Country squad finished in the top 5 of the Class 5A State meet in Edmond this past weekend as both teams wrapped up their campaign.
Duncan Boys’ Cross Country finished seventh overall as a team. Kaceson Lolar finished fourth overall and earned All-State status for the first time in his career.
Lolar finished with a time of 16:22.92 to mark the first Duncan racer to cross the finish line. He was one of six racers to finish at the Class 5A State meet.
Sophomore Caleb McFatridge became the second racer for Duncan to cross the finish line as he finished 37th overall with a time of 17:47.97.
Tomas Arredondo finished 58th overall in the Class 5A State meet for the Demons and as a sophomore finished with a time of 18:08.22 to mark the third Duncan racer to cross the finish line.
The last two Duncan scoring runners finished back-to-back as freshman Isreal Hernandez finished 65th with a time of 18:20.81 and junior Drew Taliaferro finished 66th overall with a time of 18:22.98.
Duncan had one final runner competing in the Class 5A State Tournament, freshman Jackson Williams, who finished 93rd overall with a time of 19:10.88 to make the sixth and final runner for the team.
With the seventh place finish, the Demons will lose only one senior in Lolar and return everyone next year for the cross country season beginning in fall 2022.
The Lady Demons finished their season also as the No. 13 best team in Class 5A. The Lady Demons also took the status of Class 5A State Academic Champions for the 2021 season.
Ava Miller, one of the lead runners for the Lady Demons, saw the best finish for the Duncan girls’ team as she finished 42nd overall with a time of 21:43.26.
Duncan’s second girl to cross the finish line was senior Katrina Arredondo, who finished 78th overall with a time of 23:23.52.
Jasmine Morales, a sophomore, finished 87th overall with a time of 24:01.91 while the next three runners for Duncan finished one right behind the other.
Freshman Sydney Miller finished 92nd overall with a time of 24:29.32, followed closely by junior Jentry Seeberger with a time of 24:29.62.
The sixth and final teammate for Duncan came in at 24:36.28 as senior Jordan Patterson finished in the 94th position to wrap up the Duncan Lady Demons’ cross country season.
The Duncan Girls’ Cross Country team had five seniors. Several of the top athletes will return next year for the start of Cross Country season in fall 2022.
