Jackson Attaway gets ready to swing a pitch as the Demons went 2-1 last week during spring break to bring their season to 6-3 heading into district play at Del City.

The Duncan Demons baseball team had three games for scheduled during spring break and finished with a 2-1 record including a walk-off victory to finish off the week.

The Demons played Hennessey at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City to begin the week where they took the 26-11 victory in a game the Demons fell behind early in before making a comeback.

Chago Barham and Jackson Attaway had three RBIs apiece while Trevyn Stewart had four RBIs and Bryson Brooksher, Peyton Roberson and Jake McKinney had two apiece.

The Demons scored in every inning, including 10 runs in the top of the fifth to ensure the victory and improve their record to 5-2 on the season.

On the second game of the week, the Demons dropped a close 3-2 game to Fort Cobb-Broxton High School with the Demons getting on the board first in the top of the second inning.

Stewart hit a single to right field to drive in Blake Barnard to make it 1-0 in favor of the Demons before the Mustangs tied it up 1-1 at the end of two innings of play.

Duncan broke the tie in the top of the fifth inning when Brooksher hit a ground ball to the Mustangs shortstop who bobbled the ball and McKinney scored for the Demons to take the 2-1 lead.

The Mustangs tied the game up at two apiece in the bottom of the fifth as both teams battled to the final play of the game which saw Fort Cobb-Broxton win 3-2 on a single in the bottom of the seventh.

In the final game of the break, the Demons had to go to extra innings where they took the 4-3 victory over Moore High School with Duncan taking the early lead in the bottom half of the second inning.

Barnard hit a double to lead off the bottom half of the second and a single from Stewart brought him in to make it 1-0 in favor of the Demons after two innings of play.

Moore scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the 3-1 lead, however the Demons started to make a comeback in the bottom half of the fifth inning.

Roberson hit a sacrifice fly to score Kenny Garland to cut the lead to 3-2 in favor of Moore High School with the next run coming in for the Demons in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

Needing two outs, Moore only got one on a ground ball hit by Stewart to make the game tied at three apiece with Barnard scoring on the fielder’s choice hit by Stewart.

Barham started the extra inning with a double to left field and a strikeout brought up Attaway as the Demons looked to make some noise in what ended up being the final at-bat of the game.

Facing a 1-1 count, Attaway hit a double to dead center field with Barham scoring in walk-off fashion as the Demons won and improved their season record to 6-3 on the year.

Garland was the winning pitcher for the Demons in the game against Moore as he had five strikeouts with no hits, no runs and no walks in two innings of action.

Brance Garrett got the win for the Demons pitching-wise against Hennessey as he went 4.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and one hit and four walks.

Duncan was supposed to open a district series against Del City at 5 p.m. March 22 at home, however rain postponed the district game with a makeup to be announced at a later date.

Currently, the second game is supposed to be scheduled for 5 p.m. March 23 at Del City with the Demons hoping to start district play for the 2021 season.
