Duncan senior Madelyn Harper qualified for two individual events including the 100 yard backstroke in Edmond this past weekend.

The Duncan Lady Demons swim team finished third at the Class 5A West Regionals while several Duncan and Marlow swimmers qualified in several events for the State meet.

Duncan Lady Demons started the Saturday of regionals by finishing fourth in the 200 yard medley relay and qualifying for state being the seventh best finisher in both 5A Regionals.

In the boys 200 yard medley relay race, the Demons placed fourth while the Outlaws placed fifth to qualify both teams at the State Meet with the Demons finishing less than a second ahead of Marlow.

The first two individuals qualified for state in event three as Marlow’s Morgan Warren finished sixth in the A-Final and Duncan’s Cambry May finished third in the B-Final to qualify for state.

Gage Davoult, a freshman for the Outlaws, finished sixth in the 200 yard freestyle and qualified for Marlow to head to the state meet in two weeks time.

Three Duncan Lady Demons swimmers will be heading to the Class 5A State Swim meet in the 200 yard individual medley race with Linsay Cox leading the way for Duncan.

Sydney Wood and Stephanie Elser also qualified for the event with all of the swimmers on the west side doing well enough to qualify for the state meet.

Lady Demons senior Madelyn Harper had the best finish of the day for either team finishing second overall in the 50 yard freestyle.

Harper came in with a time of 25.74 seconds and will have teammate Gaby Glover also going to the state meet in the same meet as she finished second in the B-Final.

Ethan Smith was the first Duncan boy to qualify as an individual finishing third in the 50 yard freestyle race with a time of 23.48 seconds.

Cox was the first Duncan Lady Demons swimmer to qualify in her second individual event by finishing eighth in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:23.40.

Two Duncan boys and one Marlow boy swimmer will be heading to state in the 100 yard butterfly race as Dax Alston, Caleb Warren and Dominic Cantero qualified by finishing in the top 24.

Glover was the second swimmer for Duncan to have a second individual qualification for state and she finished second in the B-Final of the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:04.41.

Smith for the Demons got his second individual qualification placing third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.50 seconds for Duncan High School.

In the longest race of the regional meet, Morgan Warren qualified by finishing first in the B-Final with a time of 6:38.78 to get her second individual qualification for the Marlow Lady Outlaws.

Marlow’s Karsten Terrell finished second overall in the boys 500 yard freestyle race with a time of 5:29.74 to qualify for the state meet.

He won’t be the only Marlow boys swimmer in the 500 yard freestyle, Luke Banks got in as the 24th qualifier in the regionals with a time of 6:38.69 and will be going to the Class 5A State meet.

Lady Demons senior swimmer Harper continued with a top finish for Stephens County placing second in the 100 yard backstroke event with a time of 1:06.07.

The last qualifiers came from Duncan as Alston got his second qualification in the 100 yard backstroke and Caden Stewart got his first in the very same race.

Duncan’s last individual qualification came from Jacob Riley who finished third in the B-Final of the 100 yard Breaststroke race and both Marlow and Duncan will be represented at the Class 5A State Swim meet.

Times haven’t been released as of yet but the Class 5A State Meet will take place the weekend of Feb. 21 & 22 at the Jenks Aquatic Center.
