Holly Hill

Holly Hill slides into third safe during the Lady Demons 7-1 loss to Chickasha Tuesday evening on the road. They will try and bounce back today at Carl Albert High School.

CHICKASHA — The Duncan softball team looked to remain undefeated early in the season on Tuesday.

Following a pair of dominant district wins at home over Santa Fe South on Monday, Duncan looked to move to 3-0 on the season at Chickasha’s Elkouri Field. Despite a strong start, Duncan ended up falling to the Lady Chicks 7-1.

The Lady Demons held an early lead over the Lady Chicks in Tuesday’s game. With one runner on base, Holly Hill delivered an RBI double for the Lady Demons in the top of the first inning.

Hill’s base hit ended up being Duncan’s only hit of the game.

But that lead did not last long. Chickasha scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good over the Lady Demons.

Duncan’s best opportunity to score the rest of the game came in the second inning. Following back-to-back walks to start the inning, the Lady Demons had two players on base with no outs.

Duncan had runners on second base and third base with just one out but could not add any runs to the scoreboard.

Chickasha scored one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to pull away from Duncan.

With a 2-1 record, the Lady Demons will head back into Class 5A competition as they head to Carl Albert to face the Lady Titans.

First pitch will be at 5 p.m. today at Carl Albert High School with the Lady Demons looking to improve their district record to 3-0 and 3-1 overall on the young 2019 season.
