Duncan was looking for their first district win and did so with a huge 48-6 homecoming victory over Western Heights this past Friday. Duncan was named this week’s Xpress Wellness Team of the Week.
The Demons jumped out to a 48-0 lead in the first half. They nearly got a shutout before allowing a fourth quarter touchdown to the Jets and had three big runners who amassed 215 rushing yards.
Dawson Ledford and Roderick Standokes had three touchdowns apiece to make up six of the scores while the other touchdown came off a special teams play with a blocked punt returned for a score.
With the victory, the Duncan Demons come into their first of two straight Thursday games with a 3-1 record and 1-1 in district play.
Demons second-year coach JT Cobble was happy with the result and the complete game and is excited to tell his team about the Xpress Wellness Team of the Week award.
“Anytime you get picked as a team of the week, it’s an honor,” Cobble said. “It’s nice to see other people see the hard work and time that these young men put in everyday.”
With their record at 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in district play, the Demons will now look to get their second victory in a row as they kickoff at 7 p.m. Thursday on the road against Southeast High School.
