After another week off due to opponent’s forfeit, the Duncan Demons came out and dominated in all facets of the game at Altus as they beat the Bulldogs 35-7.
Desmond Pettit got his big night off to a fast start, tearing through the Bulldog defense for a 70-yard rushing touchdown.
Eddy Guerra easily kicked the extra-point in, putting the Demons at 7-0 in the first two minutes of the first quarter.
The Demons continued to run the ball down the throat of the Bulldogs as Tate Wilkins and Pettit
cranked out a eight play, 64-yard scoring drive.
Wilkins used the quarterback draw play from 4 yards out, getting his first score of the night with Guerra completing his second point-after attempt, giving the Demons a 14-0 lead as the first quarter came to a close.
As the second half began, Bryson Brooksher and Kenny Garland made two incredible catches, putting the Demons in Bulldog territory.
With the drive looking like it would stall out, Tyson Walker made sure that was not so as Wilkins hit Walker on a screen pass, taking it 34 yards for the score.
Guerra continued to easily make the point-after kick, making his third one of the night and giving the Demons a 21-0 lead heading into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Demons continued to apply the pressure on Altus. The Bulldogs committed a big horse collar penalty, setting up the Demons at the 9-yard line.
On the ensuing play, Pettit cashed in on his second rushing score of the night to add on to the big lead with Guerra knocking in his fourth point-after kick, giving the Demons a huge 28-0 lead.
With the Demons getting the ball back, Wilkins dropped back and found Trevyn Stewart for a 50-yard reception to set up a goal-line situation for Duncan.
Pettit added more salt to the wound, getting his third rushing score of the night and afterword, Guerra notched his fifth point after-kick and gave the Demons a 35-point lead.
Leading 35-0, Altus scored on a last minute touchdown as the fourth quarter ended, giving them the first score of the night. With the extra point good, the final outcome ended with Duncan winning 35-7.
With one more week left in the season, the Demons will get ready to host the Southeast Spartans. Kick off will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 6. Duncan will need a victory and a MacArthur loss to get No. 2 in the district.
