Being the No. 1 seed and looking for a repeat championship, the Velma-Alma Comets used a big second half to cement their status in the championship game winning 59-43 in their semi-final game.
A three pointer put the Comets down early but Morgan Cox and Tyler Stewart hit three first quarter buckets to take the lead with Jace Saville hitting two free throws to lead 8-7 after one quarter of play.
Davis tried fighting for the victory in the second quarter but a three from Stewart got the Comets a comfortable first half lead as Austin Hunt, Cox, Saville and Cooper Keck hit clutch baskets.
Leading by five heading into the second half, Saville started to get his shots to fall in the third quarter of the game as he hit three from the field while Cox, Hunt and Stewart helped Velma-Alma keep the lead.
Having a 14-point lead heading into the final quarter of play, Saville hit two long range shots while Hunt added another long range shot to have three in the fourth quarter and build the lead.
Tristan Wainscott hit a bucket along with Cox and Keck to be able to withstand a Davis late fourth quarter rally and put them in the drivers seat for their second straight championship game.
Saville had 20 points for the Comets while Cox had 14 in the game, Stewart had eight and Hunt had seven for the Comets offense scoring.
The championship game for the Comets will be at 8 p.m. this evening against the Marlow Outlaws while the Davis Wolves will play in the third place game at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon in Comanche.
