Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Region 5 released their All-District team and Comanche’s JJ Francis was one of several players to be named to the list and the only representative from Stephens County.
The Comanche senior was one of 10 players selected by coaches of the 54 teams in Region 5 and has recently chosen the school he will be going to to play basketball in college.
Francis averaged 16.6 points and five rebounds per game while having two assists per game and one and one half steals per game for the Indians.
In his senior season, Francis led the Comanche Indians to the Area Tournament after winning two straight games in regionals to punch their ticket to area in Chickasha.
Finishing his senior season, Francis committed to play collegiate basketball with Oklahoma Wesleyan University this past weekend.
In a statement posted on his social media, Francis said he is very thankful to join Oklahoma Wesleyan and thanked everyone in Comanche for the support over the years.
“I want to first thank God for blessing me, without Him I’m nothing! I also want to thank my family for sacrificing a lot for me to do what I love and supporting me too,” Francis said. “I’m glad that I had great individuals who I respect and appreciate everything they did to help me achieve all my goals in life with playing at the next level too. Finally, I would like to thank the whole Comanche High School faculty and staff for helping me through my high school years.”
The Indians senior joins the likes of Mojo Browning – Purcell, Nick Burchfield – Minco, Skylar Croskey – Amber-Pocasset, Ben Emmert – Norman, Sam Godwin – Southmoore, Levi Houck – Tuttle, Kalub Hunt – Newcastle, Josh Martin - Community Christian School, Cooper Shirley – Minco and Jordan Thompson – Southmoore.
