Two top 20 teams faced off against each other this past Tuesday and Plainview was able to sneak by the Comanche Lady Indians 47-39.
In the first quarter, the Lady Indians got three shots from Brooklin Bain and Kinley Rendon while Grace Miller and Shayson Hodges knocked down some free throws but trailed 12-9 after one quarter.
Plainview outscored Comanche 14-7 in the second quarter to lead 26-16 at halftime in which Rendon got three points and Hodges hit two shots to have the seven points for the Lady Indians.
Comanche was able to keep it a 10 point game in the third quarter as Bain hit two shots from the field and Rendon hit her second three of the game before Miller contributed a bucket for nine points.
Leading 35-25, the Lady Indians would have their best quarter in the fourth as Bain had a bucket and Rendon hit her third three of the game.
Miller and Hodges had a bucket a piece while Caity Blair hit a three point shot and Teagan Pineda hit a pair of free throws and they scored 14 fourth quarter points.
However, Plainview was able to score 12 fourth quarter points and held off Comanche as they handed the Lady Indians their fourth loss of the season standing at 17-4 on the year.
The loss ended a season high eight game winning streak that started at the Stephens County Tournament and lasted until mid February.
Rendon led the scoring for the Lady Indians with 12 points, Bain had nine, Hodges has seven, Miller had six points, Pineda had two and Blair had three points.
Comanche boys dropped their game against Plainview 54-35 and are now 10-11 on the season as they head to their final regular season home game of the year.
The Lady Indians and Indians will host Kingston this evening with the Senior Night activities starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Lady Indians game starting at 6:30 p.m. and the Indians tipping off at approximately 8 p.m. this evening.
