Teague Prather

Teague Prather looks for an open teammate during the game. The Central High Bronchos couldn’t find an answer to Minco’s hot shooting in the 90-41 season opening loss.

Trying to open the season off with a victory, the Central High Bronchos were stopped by Minco’s hot shooting and lost 90-41 at home against the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs started off on a 6-0 run before Landon Burton hit the first basket for the Bronchos and he had six of the 10 first quarter points with Teague Prather hitting a three and Cole Doughty getting the last point on a free throw.

Down by 14 heading into the second quarter, Burton added two more baskets and Ryan Minden got his first bucket of the game but Minco went 12-for-16 from the field and built their lead.

Burton hit his first three bucket of the year in the third quarter and Prather got another three for the Bronchos. Minco ws able to outscore Central High 20-9 in the third quarter.

Doughty hit his first three point shot in the fourth quarter, Burton hit a basket and Jake Waller got two baskets with the Bronchos scoring 12 points for their best quarter of the game.

Despite their best shooting coming in the fourth quarter, the Minco Bulldogs were able to stretch the lead and get the victory by hitting six shots in the fourth quarter and keeping their shooting percentage up.

In the season opener, Burton led the Bronchos in scoring with 17 points and had six rebounds while Doughty had seven and Prather had six to be the high scorers.

Minco had four players in double figures in the victory. The Bronchos now look to get their first victory after they return from Thanksgiving break.

The Bronchos will play at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 on the road against Sterling High School before their third game of the season a week later. 

In the second week of December they will play at 8 p.m. Dec. 10 at Ninnekah High School before playing in the Minco Classic beginning Dec. 13 lasting until Dec. 15 for Central High.
