With the basketball regular season almost complete, the Oklahoma Secondary Activities Association released the district pairings with times set for all of the playoffs until state for some of the area teams.
Central High, Bray-Doyle and Empire will be in Area 3 while Velma-Alma will be the lone Stephens County representative in Area 4. District playoffs begin Feb. 14 with teams trying to make it to March 5 when the Class A State Basketball Tournament starts.
Playoffs are double elimination unless playing in the district championship play-in game and some of the Stephens County teams are slated to be in those games starting on the first day of playoffs.
Central High, Bray-Doyle and Empire boys team will all be playing for the district championship and they will be heading out of the county.
The Lady Donkeys will face host Fletcher in the play-in match starting at 6:30 p.m. with the winner moving on to play the Empire Lady Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Fletcher High School.
Bray-Doyle and Empire will be in the same district as they head to Fletcher with the boys teams playing against each other in the play-in matchup starting at 8 p.m. Feb. 14.
The winner of that matchup will face host Fletcher Wildcats beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 15 with both the district champion and runner-up moving on to regionals the next week.
Winner and runner-up for the Empire, Bray-Doyle and Fletcher district will head to Union City sub-site regional and will end up at Arapaho-Butler regional main site if they are still alive in the playoffs.
The Central High Bronchos and Lady Bronchos both will be in the play-in game in their district as they head to Cyril to face off against the Ryan Cowgirls and Ryan Cowboys to determine who faces host Cyril.
The Lady Bronchos will play Ryan beginning at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and the Bronchos will follow up playing at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 against Ryan with the winner moving to Saturday to play Cyril and the loser eliminated.
The regional sub site for the Cyril, Ryan and Central High district will be at Central High and will then head to Alex for the remainder of the time if they are still alive in the playoffs.
Both the girls and boys teams for Velma-Alma are ranked in the top 10 and will host district championship games and will wait for the winner of Stonewall-Maud and are already guaranteed a regionals trip.
The Lady Comets will go for their district championship at home starting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 with the Comets following up at 8 p.m. Feb. 15 and will move to Stonewall for regionals.
Area 3 playoffs will be held at Chickasha High School the weekend of Feb. 27-29 and Area 4 playoffs will be held at Bethel High School with two teams from each area making it to state.
