Editor's Note: Marlow Public Schools has confirmed a change to the schedule for the 90th Annual Stephens County Tournament set to begin Jan. 18, 2021. The new schedule is as follows: 3 p.m. Comanche Lady Indians vs. Wayne, 4:40 p.m. Velma-Alma Lady Comets vs. Central High Lady Bronchos and 6:20 p.m. Empire Lady Bulldogs vs. Waurika Lady Eagles.
After a few changes, the 90th Annual Stephens County Tournament bracket is official and there will be a total of 21 games taking place next week at Marlow High School.
The girls’ first round games will begin Jan. 18 at Marlow High School with the No. 4 Empire Lady Bulldogs facing off against the No. 5 Waurika Lady Eagles.
That game will tip off at 6:20 p.m. Jan. 18 at Marlow, and the winner will move on to face No. 1 Marlow, who got a forfeit victory over the No. 8 seed Marlow JV, confirmed by the host school.
At the conclusion of the first game and between each and every game, the gym will be cleared and sanitized.
The next game will feature the No. 3 vs. No. 6 seeds for game number two of the day.
No. 3 Velma-Alma Lady Comets will take on No. 6 Central High Lady Bronchos and that game will tip off around 4:40 p.m. Jan. 18 at Marlow High School.
The girls’ first round games will end with the defending Stephens County Tournament champions, the Comanche Lady Indians, who are the No. 2 seed and will face off against No. 7 Wayne.
That game will tip off at 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at Marlow High School. The boys’ games will then take place that very next day with four first round boys’ games taking place.
Two teams that are not in Stephens County borders will appear in the first boys’ game as the No. 3 Waurika Eagles take on No. 6 Wayne with that tipoff taking place at 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at Marlow High School.
Defending two-time Stephens County Tournament champions on the boys’ side, Velma-Alma, who is the No. 2 seed in the 90th Annual Stephens County tournament, will then show up next as they take on No. 7 Central High.
The game is set for a 4:40 p.m. start on Jan. 19 at Marlow High School.
The next game will then bring the No. 4 vs. No. 5 face-off that will see Comanche play Empire.
The Indians are the No. 4 seed and Empire is the No. 5 seed and that game will begin around 6:20 p.m. Jan. 19 at Marlow High School.
The final first round boys’ game will feature host Marlow, the No. 1 seed, and they will take on the No. 8 seed Duncan JV team starting around 8 p.m. Jan. 19.
Wednesday will bring an off day for the tournament with the championship semi-finals taking place Thursday and the consolation semi-finals taking place Friday at Marlow High School.
Saturday, Jan. 23 will bring on championship Saturday, which will feature six games that will crown consolation titles, third place winners and the champions of the tournament.
All teams will get 100 vouchers that will turn into tickets to purchase. Those attending must have a voucher to gain admittance into the game. Masks will be required inside the Marlow High School gymnasium.
