City of Duncan’s regularly scheduled council meeting took a moment to spotlight one of Stephens County’s youngsters who set out on a mission to help dogs however he could.

The lull between holidays and the renewed “spark” of tidiness might lead to some early spring cleaning but before you haul that to a donation center or even host a garage sale, don’t forget the Duncan Toy Shop.


What started out as a way for volunteers to help the Stephens County Humane Society (SCHS) accomplish its goals has grown to include not only help with events and fundraising, but also running a resale store through the moniker “Friends of the SCHS.” The group volunteers for the non-profit to put on events like Bark in the Park and gather items in the holiday silent auction, all of which help fund the rescue programs, adoptions and of course, the spay/neuter program. 

The Duncan Chamber of Commerce is preparing for two of their biggest summer events — The World’s Largest Garage Sale and the Food 4 Kids auction.
