The National Day of The Cowboy saw all the little doggies out and about at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center on Saturday. The free event had the cowboys and girls of every age learning more about an important feature of the west, the bison which coincided with the last weekend for the “Bison: Ancient. Massive. Wild,” traveling exhibit from the Kauffman Museum in Kansas. Not only did they learn about the near extinction and the relationships with the Plains Indians but also the modern bison industry and its relationship with the Department of U.S. Agriculture and conservation.

Executive Director Stacy Cramer Moore said around noon she thought it was a “record breaking attendance” and still had several hours to go.

The crowds also were entrained by Allen Wooten and the Cowboys at Heart who played most of the day.
