Any items which could be used by those in Joplin, Mo., can be donated at two area businesses.
The death toll has been reported at 116 people and is expected to rise.
Duncan Women’s Center and Southern Trophy are serving as collection points for the items, which will be transported by Tabrina Whitlow and possibly other volunteers this weekend. Tara Harper will accept donations at Southern Trophy.
Whitlow is a former Joplin resident who was in the city only hours before the tornado struck Sunday evening. She works for Duncan Women’s Center.
“They need lots of bottled water and they are in need of O negative blood,” she says. “I’m trying to get a blood drive established for here.”
Any toiletries, baby items, food, clothing will be accepted. New toy bears and dolls also could be donated for children who have been displaced.
Whitlow said to bring items through Thursday afternoon so they have time to load them before she heads out late Friday or early Saturday.
