After convening into an executive session, Duncan City Council unanimously approved to enter into a new contract with City Manager Kimberly Meek for 2019-2020.
After the nearly hour long executive session, Vice Mayor Patty Wininger made the motion to continue the contract with Meek. Meek’s base salary is set for $148,506. Each council member, including Mayor Ritchie Dennington, voted yes on keeping Meek in Duncan.
At the end of the Duncan City Council meeting, Meek told council members she appreciated their support and is glad to call Duncan her home.
“I’d just like to thank the Council for their support in these past years and their confidence as we move forward into the fourth year,” Meek said. “I guess I’m no longer new, but I love Duncan. It’s become home and I’m glad to be able to serve another year.”
Meek was officially hired in Duncan in July 2016. She began her term in August of the same year with a base salary of $130,000.
Before working with City of Duncan, Meek worked as the City Manager of Guymon, the Guymon City Clerk and Finance Director, Director of Finance for City of Poteau and also as a staff accountant for Pioneer Communications.
Duncan City Council will meet again at 5:15 p.m. July 23.
