A Duncan man was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree robbery for an incident on Monday at Dishman’s Pharmacy in Lawton.

Christopher L. Barnes, 20, was arrested Friday at his home in Duncan in connection with the robbery, which occurred just after 1 p.m. Monday. Duncan and Lawton Police departments joined forces to take Barnes into custody.

Detective John Byers of the Duncan Police Department, said, “He looks like a clean-cut kid. He doesn’t look like someone who would point a shotgun at nine people.”

Byers said the police officers, which included Byers, Detective David Woods and Cory Morris of the Duncan Police Department, and Investigator Roberto Peralta of the Lawton Police Department, executed a warrant to search Barnes’ home and ended up finding Barnes in the process.

“We were told he wasn’t going to be there,” Byers said.

The detective said the officers began to search the house to look for robbery-related evidence, when Barnes emerged from a back room.

Byers said the police officers then arrested Barnes on the robbery charges.

When searching the house, police found the shotgun allegedly used in the robbery and a jacket believed to have been worn while the crime was being committed, Byers said.

“We also found a syringe with a possible narcotic on his person,” he said.

Police were led to Barnes by several tips collected through Crime Stoppers. Officers also compiled a photo lineup of possible suspects. The lineup generated an arrest warrant, Byers said.

Byers said the departments are also looking into other tips gathered through Crime Stoppers, which could lead them to the driver involved in the robbery.
