The Duncan Jaycee organization is gearing up for its third annual Jaycee Wacky Golf tournament Friday at the Elks Golf & Country Club.

Duncan Jaycee president Jay Head says that this is the event  he looks forward to each year.

“This is just a fun fundraiser that we have each year that just helps get our name out there for everyone,” Head said. “It is just a way for people in the community to know that we are here and to give them a chance to get to know us more.”

Interest is also big this year. “Last year we had 14 or 15 teams together when it was all said and done,” Head said. “This year we have already passed that with 16 definite teams and four or five individuals needing teams interested.”

While the two man flights have been pretty well secured, Head said that the male/female flights is in need of some interest. Six teams are needed for flight, nine for full.

“For the male/female flight we have only four teams that are interested,” Head said.

Registration is $70 per team which includes a golf cart, two night golf balls and closest to the pin.

“We will be holding wacky golf for the front nine which will begin at 6 p.m. with registration at 5:30 p.m.,” Head said. “We will be hitting the ball with a baseball bat, throwing it, hitting off of a barstool, hitting while blindfolded, switch handed and hitting on one foot. Anything weird can happen so we want people to be ready for anything.

“On the back nine is when we will begin our night golf and that will start as soon as it gets dark.”

This is the third year that the Jaycees have been holding the golf tournament at the Elks Golf & Country Club and Head said that he appreciates the club for supporting the tournament.

“They have supported us every year been so gracious in allowing us to use the course,” Head said.

“It is just such a wonderful time for us to get together and we appreciate the Elks Golf & Country Club for allowing us to hold our tournament each year.”

Head said that registration is still open until the tournament starts or until it is full. Those interested in registering can pick up a form from Head at First Bank & Trust, 923 W. Main or at the country club pro shop.
