The majority of tonight’s Duncan Board of Education meeting will regard employment, including eight possible changes of contract, and possibly hiring 12 people.
There may even be an acceptance of a resignation.
The possible changes in contract include Krystal Newsom going from director of Child Nutrition to assistant director of Child Nutrition, and Becky Barnes going from assistant director of Child Nutrition to director of Child Nutrition.
Duncan High School assistant principals Merry Stone and Justin Smith are slated for extra duty compensation of $1,200 each for the 2012-13 school year.
If approved, this money would be paid with Title IIA funds.
Other changes in contract include Lori McCann from transportation supervisor to maintenance clerk, Steve Cordell, transportation supervisor on a 12-month contract, Danny Johnson going from an eight-hour groundskeeper/ general maintenance to four-hour grounds-keeper/general maintenance and four hour bus driver, and Tina Nelson going from Emerson financial clerk to a 10 month finance clerk at Central Office.
The possible resignation to be discussed is for Elizabeth Ortiz.
When it comes to hiring employees, those who may be hired during the board meeting include two Title I teaching assistants at Emerson Elementary, two standby bus drivers, a transportation clerk, a license practical nurse, a Woodrow Wilson teaching assistant, a Duncan High School cafeteria server/helper, a Duncan Middle School cafeteria cashier/helper, an assistant warehouseman at Central Office, and a Title I teaching assistant at DMS.
The board may enter into an executive session to discuss the employment items.
Other items include:
- Assistant Superintendent Glenda Cobb is slated to discuss the A-F report cards. The report cards are part of a accountability plan put in place by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
- The board is set to discuss the fiscal year 2013 contract for Secondary Career and Technology Education Program(s) for 2012-13.
- The board will also consider business associate agreement and Oklahoma State Immunization Information System Facility Authorization.
