This year’s traditional city-wide garage sale in Duncan returns in July, bringing individuals and businesses together in hosting garage sales throughout the community during the weekend.

The tradition has become so popular that bargain hunters and vendors from as far away as California, Florida, Colorado, Texas and Montana annually attend.

Always looking to build and improve upon the process, the Duncan Chamber of Commerce has scheduled July 21 and 22 for the 21st Annual World’s Largest Garage Sale in Fuqua Park.

At the same time, all throughout Duncan, garages and yards will be full of treasures just waiting to be found.

There will be the usual wide range of vendors in Fuqua Park, plenty of food, and activities, games and rides for children. Booth spaces are available.

The sale days will also feature a musical influence.

The enthusiastic response to jazz and blues guitarist DC Minner in 2003 sparked the Chamber to find a group that would make an even bigger impression.

They succeeded so well last year that they’ve scheduled a repeat.

On Friday night at approximately 8:30, Keith Woods and Summer Breeze will host the Second Annual Reunion Concert at the gazebo in Fuqua Park.

Summer Breeze, winner of the Oklahoma Band of the Year, is sponsored by the Duncan Tourism and Convention Center and the Duncan Chamber of Commerce.

The reunion concert is free. Everyone is encouraged to take lawn chairs and blankets for the performance.

The band, composed of Duncan natives, had been a fixture at city and area events, from playing at Founder’s Day in Duncan to the Fourth of July Fireworks in Marlow.

After a career that included opening concerts for Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Joe Diffie, Little Texas and Tammy Wynette, several of the members moved away to pursue their dreams in Nashville and on the road.

They returned last year to an enthusiastic response.

Anyone needing information about the event or seeking to be a vendor should contact the Chamber at 580-255-3644.
