Duncan celebrated “Juneteenth” this weekend which marks the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reaching slaves in Texas two years after it was signed into law. Thus the date it call “Juneteenth” because they were unsure what date it actually went into law. The Stephens County Black Historical Society were the event planners this year and had fun for all to join in. The splash pad was full, the grill was serving up hot dogs, and fellowship abound.
