Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct the fatality victim’s last name to Pitt.
While the investigation of a Jan. 18 fatality wreck is still ongoing, Duncan Police Department disclosed the identities of those involved in the crash on Highway 81 and Fuller Road.
Around 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, a vehicle driven by Hailey Pitt, from Tennessee, and a vehicle driven by Stephens County resident Charby Stogsdill were involved in a head on collision. Lawmen say Pitt was deceased at the scene and Stogsdill had to be air lifted to Oklahoma City.
Detective James Branch stated Pitt drove a 2004 Ford Ranger and crossed over the center line, hitting a 2012 Chevy driven by Stogsdill, who has since been released from the hospital and is still recovering from injuries.
Highway 81 closed from Cherokee Road to Fuller Road from the time of the wreck until around 10 p.m. that evening as Duncan Police cleared and processed the scene.
Detective Branch said a full report will be released possibly next week as the investigation wraps up.
Branch believes no charges will be filed. He couldn’t specify what caused Pitt to cross the center line because authorities are still waiting on information to be finalized from the investigation.
