Duncan Police Department has confirmed one dead after an accident Saturday evening.
According to Master Officer Bryan Eades, the accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. near Highway 7 and Second Street.
“I’m still investigating the accident currently,” Eades said. “It was a simple accident and it’s very unfortunate someone lost their life.”
The accident involved a 2013 Dodge Ram half-ton pickup and a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, according to Eades. He said the pickup was headed westbound on Highway 7, approaching the intersection of Second Street, where the trailblazer was stopped at the red light going southbound.
“The driver of the truck saw the light go red, but couldn’t stop, and the trailblazer received a green signal,” Eades said. “In the intersection, the Dodge Ram pickup collided with the driver side door of the trailblazer.”
Eades confirmed Duncan Fire Department and Ambulance Services arrived on scene. The driver of the trailblazer along with a passenger inside the vehicle had to be extricated from the car, Eades said.
“The driver was deceased on scene,” Eades said, noting the passenger was sent to Duncan Regional via ambulance and then to Oklahoma City via mediflight.
“I do not know the condition of the passenger,” Eades said.
