A woman with ties to Stephens County now faces charges in Comanche County for allegedly driving drunk with children in her car.
According to On Demand Court Records, Stephanie Rae Car, of Duncan, faces child endangerment by driving under the influence, improper driving on a divided highway and failure to use a child restraint system.
Reports indicate Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) troopers responded to a call of a driver headed down Highway 7, driving in the wrong direction around 11 p.m. Saturday, June 22. Reports show troopers later identified Car as the driver who was heading westbound toward Lawton in the eastbound lanes of Highway 7. She told law enforcement she “wasn’t trying to” drive in the wrong direction, according to reports. Troopers also noted in the report two children in the vehicle were standing and were not restrained.
Reports from troopers indicate Car’s breathalyzer results showed it was an “aggravated DUI,” and that law enforcement found an alcohol bottle in the vehicle.
Car was released on a surety bond of $10,000. She is ordered to return to court at 3 p.m. Aug. 15.
