The Duncan High School Vocal Music Department competed the last two weeks at the OSSAA State Choral Contest in Norman and Oklahoma City. Five separate groups performed two selections each with one required to be done a cappella, one to be chosen from a prescribed list of music and one usually done in a foreign language (Latin, German, or Italian).
The Freshman/Open Chorus Mixed Choir and Women’s choir both obtained Excellent ratings in performance.
The Chorale Mixed Choir received an Excellent rating in performance and sight-reading; the Chorale Men’s Choir obtained a Excellent rating in performance; and the Chorale Women’s Choir were awarded a Superior rating in performance and sight-reading.
The High School Music Department is under direction of Kevin Zinn with Anita Johns accompanying. The next event open to the public will be the Spring Concert, which will be Thursday, May 8.
