Who wouldn’t want to win prize money for their talented, artistic skills? “We know there is a lot of talent in our community – and throughout Oklahoma – and now is your chance to show us what amazing talent you have in our Holiday Art Show and Sale (HASS). Deadline for artists to enter this year’s HASS is Nov 8th.

Judging this year’s show is Jackie Knapp from USAO, Chickasha OK. Knapp, M.F.A., Professor of Art, has served as a faculty member at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma since 1988, full-time since 1998 and Art Department Coordinator since 2013. In addition to her work in the classroom, Knapp is the Director of the 3rd Floor Gallery, organizes on campus art shows including the Montmartre Chalk Art Festival and Innovations High School Art Competition.

Knapp serves as advisor for Teacher Education Candidates in Art, Advanced Drawing, Sculpture, Jewelry, and Design students. Knapp is also a member of the National Art Education Association and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.

CTAC will be hosting this year’s event in their gallery at 810 W. Walnut. Artists who are interested can chose from three different categories to enter in: Fine Art, Photography, and Three Dimensional. Prizes totaling $1875 will be awarded in these categories including Best of Show and Honorable Mentions. There will be a “People’s Choice Award” this year at $1 per vote with proceeds going back to the CTAC Art Gallery. All artists must be fully registered by the November 8th deadline. The drop off date for art to be hung is Nov 18 (9:30-4:00). Judging of the show will take place on the 19th with the award reception on Nov 21st (5:30pm -7:00pm).

Last year, there was a total of 154 pieces entered in the show by 53 artists who participated. Best of Show went to Judy Absher from Comanche with a beautifully carved gourd titled “Essence of Nature”. “We are anticipating a large turnout again this year, so we hope that artists register early to ensure they are included in this fun event.”
