A night of comedy, coffee and cake is set to raise funds for the Charis Pregnancy Center at 6 p.m. tomorrow night (Nov. 14) at the Palace Theater.
Kimberla Treat, of Charis, said the event was chosen to break away from other fundraisers.
“We just thought we would provide something different for the community. There hasn’t really been a comedy show,” she said.
Desserts will be provided by Special Days Cake Boutique with the coffee coming from Viridian Coffee.
The event starts with the coffee and cake when the doors open at 6 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. comedian Bob Smiley will take the stage.
Smiley’s bio said he honed his skills as a crowd opener for Christian bands like Newsboys, Third Day, Switchfoot and Mercy Me.
“He was such a hit that we are bringing him back for this year’s event,” Treat said. “Bob is one of our nation’s most in-demand and hilarious comedians, he has been on several tours with Tim Hawkins, and we are excited for him to share his humor again with our community.”
The clean comedian has been delivering his “manic paced” shows for 20 years now and has written children’s books and light-hearted devotional books for the middle school crowd. Smiley takes the stage at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $25 at the door, which includes coffee and dessert.
