It is getting harder and harder for the Lady Demons to stay safe in the diminishing conditions of the field and facilities, inspiring the Softball Booster Club to host the first annual Demons Dash Color Run.

The 5k run or 1-mile walk kicks off at the Duncan High School softball field Saturday morning, June 29, with stopping points, or stations, for the spectators to throw colored powder at the runners as they go by.

The proceeds from this event will go directly to supporting renovations and updates to the softball field and neighboring facilities, such as the field house, the concession stand, the locker rooms and more.

“It can always use improvements,” said Tami Carlton, president of the Softball Booster Club. “We don’t get a lot of funding from the school, so the booster club tries to help out as much as we possibly can.”

Carlton believes that the renovations and upgrades aren’t only to serve the current softball players, but for the upcoming players for years to come, and encourages the community to get involved for that fact.

“I feel like anything that the kids do needs to be supported by the community,” Carlton said. “This isn’t just helping my kids, but this is helping girls coming up throughout the years. It keeps them involved in school if they have something to do.”

Those interested in participating can register online at Once registered, an email will be sent with payment options. Registration is $25, which covers the cost for a T-shirt, but after June 22, the cost increases to $30.
