Duncan Enhancement Trust Authority (DETA) is making headway on a project which was approved by City of Duncan council members in the end of September. The project is known as “Circle of Love,” which will go into Fuqua Park near the gazebo and the water feature.

The Circle of Love project will be a 35 foot diameter circle built from pavers. The project will include a wooden arbor, a seating area landscaping with crapemyrtles and a monument feature. The attraction aims to serve the community by acting as a place where families can make memories, either as a place to shoot family photos, a place to host weddings or as a place which will allow people to gather and socialize, according to DETA’s Chair Carolyn Rodgers.

Rodgers announced they’ve received a major donation from the Chickasaw Nation, but the group is on the lookout for more donors.

“We are very honored to receive a $15,100 donation from The Chickasaw Nation for the Circle of Love Park and will be completing the project with donations and help from Garden Town,” Rodgers said. “We are still looking for donations and have introduced a way to be a part of the project by getting your name etched in stone.”

The project, which will continue to raise funds for itself and provide an amenity to the community, accepts donations through the 501.c.3 nonprofit Color Duncan Beautiful.

Through Color Duncan Beautiful, DETA members are able to host fundraising events and approaching organizations in the community which typically fund these projects.

One of those fundraiser events will be a Love Letters Fundraiser, which is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Feb. 15, 2020, at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club and will include dinner.

Those interested in the project can get involved by purchasing a paver for the Circle of Love. Options of pavers include a large paver which is nine inches by nine inches, costs $100 and includes four lines of text or a medium sized paver, which is nine inches by six inches, costs $50 and includes two lines of text. Each line of text is limited to 10 characters per line.

Checks for donations or for pavers can be made payable to “Color Duncan Beautiful” and mailed to 2206 Carolin Drive, Duncan, OK 73533.
