Chisholm Trail Arts Council (CTAC) announced its “call for artists” for the gallery’s annual Kickoff and Membership Drive held in August.
The Kickoff is a big event that helps CTAC with memberships according to Darcy Reeves, executive director.
“This event will feature a wide variety of works from artists from across the state of Oklahoma,” she said. “There will be an opening night reception held on Friday, Aug. 9.”
Reeves said the gallery invites artists to submit their work for possible consideration no later than June 28, 2019.
“The number of entries are limited to 3-4 pieces per artist, depending on the size,” she said. “This event is open to experienced artists as well as new and emerging artists.”
All approved artwork must be delivered no later than July 12 to the CTAC Art Gallery. Artwork will remain on exhibit and for sale from Aug. 1 to Sept. 20.
Also for CTAC, the CTAC Live Concert Series is the annual art contest and is still open for the cover of the 2019-2020 playbill.
There are prizes for the top three works of art, first place wins $100, second place wins $50, and third place wins $25. In addition, the first place artwork will be printed on the front cover of the 2019-2020 CTAC Live Concert Series Playbill and live mailing brochure. Honorable mentions will be placed throughout the playbill where space permits. In total, more than 3,000 copies will be printed and distributed across the state.
Some criteria must be followed to be eligible:
• All artwork must be original and submitted in the medium in which it was initially created (e.g. paint on canvas, watercolor, photography).
• Any appropriate subject may be used. A reproduction of artwork will be disqualified.
• Please do not include brand or product names or logos in your artwork.
• Computer generated artwork will not be accepted in this art competition at this time.
CTAC recommends a flat, one-dimensional artwork which will be able to be reproduced to fit the playbill cover, approximately 5.5 x 8.5 inches.
The deadline for all entries is June 7, 2019. Submissions may be mailed or delivered to the Chisholm Trail Arts Council, 810 W. Walnut, Duncan OK 73533.
